Hurricane Wilma and the World Series
I would have posted a cool NASA pic, but they don't have one yet... maybe after the storm passes they will. I live right in the path of the some of the worst damage that is going to be done on the east coast of south Florida. There is obviously no work tomorrow, but I'm sure I'll be in on Tuesday. If the power is out at work, then I get to stay home. I expect to lose my power for a while. Any bets on how long I will be without power? I'm guessing 48 hours.
The worst part is that I am probably going to miss at least one game from the World Series. My previous predications were only half true. I really thought the Yankees would beat Los Angeles. LA proved that they had a great team. I was shocked that the Red Sox didn't even win one game. Obviously, I was wrong about the Cardinals making it to the series. I have been impressed with the Astros so far. The White Sox are still going to win. The series is currently at 2-0 for the White Sox. Maybe one of my friends will have power if I don't. I hope they are baseball fans.
I'll be back by next weekend.

I hope you escaped the worst of it, friend. We'll be waiting for word from you.

Thanks David,
I'm alive. There was no work or school today, so I drove up to Orlando to visit family.
Broward County (where I live) was hit with the Wilma Bomb. Almost every tree is damaged or uprooted. 98% of the county has no electricity (3.1 million people statewide). Most of the cities have a boil water order. This is amusing, since we have no electric for our stoves (natural gas hookups are rare down here).
It was a lot worse than expected. I am picking up some extra food and water while I'm up here. I hope we get power back at work pretty soon. I don't really want to work, but the bills still need to be paid. I can survive without power at home for a while. Florida Power and Light said it may be up to 4 weeks before all power is restored.
I'll post after I get power back.
